Full course description
This course will take you through a brief tour of these considerations and arrive at IFAW’s definition and position on animal welfare. Along the way, we will answer the question: "Is animal welfare about the state of an animal or about its treatment?"
To answer this question, we must look at how human viewpoints have changed over time, examine the science and ethics behind animal welfare, and explore the evidence of wellbeing and suffering in an animal. We will examine how animal welfare and conservation are interconnected and how they influence one another. We will conclude with IFAW’s definition of animal welfare and how it guides IFAW and our supporters in our mission, vision, and goals.
